Feedback on the Intellectual Property Meeting, May 9, 2002

"The CTO Council meeting on Intellectual Property was world-class. The speakers were each experts in their field backed by deep experience, and brought a technical yet most critical subject to life. The meeting would have been well worth attending even for only one of these esteemed speakers."

- Joel Plaut, CTO Avant Trust

"I thought the session was very infomative. Intellectual Property rights magaement is one of the most pressing issues we have to deal with in IT today. I thought the speakers were clearly leaders in the field. I appreciate you including me in the session. It is good to see that there is New York City based CTO organization to discuss important issues. Good luck with your future activities.Thank you."

- George Pappas, IBM, Telecommunications Industry BIS Executive

"I found the meeting highly valuable -- a seminar that would ordinarily have costs hundreds of dollars to attend. The speakers were authoritative and articulate, and their treatment of the material very relevant. I found the discussion on business methods patents in particular very thought provoking. Despite the duration, things never dragged. In fact, the time allowed for a deeper treatment then one would normally expect to get at a typical SIG meeting. Had time permitted, I could have easily spent another hour on topics relating to Open Source licensing. I hope you continue to arrange for workshops of this high quality."

- Rich A. Unis, Principal, RAUnis & Company

"I found the CTO Council seminar on intellectual property issues to be extremely relevant to my job as in-house counsel for a small technology firm. It was great to see that the issues I encounter every day are common to others in the industry, and to hear from experts the best way to address those issues."

Tobey Forney, COO & General Councel, TransactTools

"The CTO Council on Intellectual Property was superb... one could not ask for more subject matter expertise than the panel members provided... the latest software industry updates related to copyrights, trademarks, and patents were comprehensively addressed -- all in a few hours time" " many thanks to Ram, Erik and Penny Edmonds for preparing this event""

- Ed Martino, IT Solutions

"It was a great meeting. I thought this was probably the most beneficial meeting we've done to date. This information is on everyone's mind, yet is not too well understood by most. It was a great example of how the CTO Council can really be useful to us and a terrific use of a few hours of everyone's busy days. Great mix - no overlap and they dovetailed well. Although I've gone through so much of this myself (in filing our own patent, doing our licenses, licensing software, consulting, etc) but nonetheless I enjoyed it."

- Carlos Cashman, Now, writer, was CTO, Opus 360

"The Intellectual Property session was tremendously useful. I thought I knew most of the issues by going through patent process, technology licensing and transfer, software license negotiations and even through software copyright litigation. Well, I learned a lot more in the session’s four hours. My greatest thanks to the stellar IP attorneys who were on the panel and to all those who put this together."

- Roman Tutunikov, President, BillyAnt Technologies, Inc.

"The Intellectual Property meeting was very informative as it highlighted how information ranks high above any organization's most valuable assets. The definitions, explanations, and advice given by the legal technology experts were invaluable as they described intellectual property and the means to protect it via copyrights, patents, trade secrets."

- Robert Galletta, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

"As a technologist, I find the CTO conferences focus on critical technical, legal, and business issues many CTOs need to address today. The speakers are always well- prepared with great presentations that elicit insightful interactive discussions with the attendees."

- Ajay Khanna, CIO, GMG Capital Partners

"As with all CTO Council meetings to date, I found the latest topic ? Intellectual Property ? to be interesting and beneficial as the topic was thoroughly covered with content ranging from fundamentals to case studies and the finer points of contract negotiation. The "board room" meeting format afforded the opportunity to interact freely with both expert topic presenters as well as industry peers. This winning combination ensures that attending CTO Council meetings continues to be a worthwhile experience."

- Melanie Heintz, Federal Reserve Bank of New York
