Thursday, Nov 7, 2002, 4 pm - OUTSOURCING

Welcome back to the CTO Council. Our next meeting is on Outsourcing, and will continue the style of detailed discussions that educate us on current strategies and issues.

InfoSys, one of the premier companies in this space, will take us through the landscape of outsourcing. Holland & Knight will then give us a short tutorial on the key issues in contracting, and Gartner will present a short talk that illustrates the changes underway from what was primarily an IT outsourcing business into one of strategic sourcing. Sector will join the panel.

We expect this meeting, (like the earlier one... read the comments), to be a high value, intense, and enlightening experience. We are thinking that this topic is so critical, that we will probably hold more than meeting on the subject. The next ones could get into depth on industry specific topics, and BTO. But, lets start with the basics, so we build up our skills in the area.

Sample Topics:

  • The landscape of Software Outsourcing
  • Capabilities, costs, resources
  • Industry specialization
  • Relationship modes
  • Evaluating performance
  • Customer experience
  • Topics for future discussion
  • Transition from IT Cost Savings to Strategic Sourcing
  • New topics for future meetings
  • Basics of contracting
  • Indemnification, IP, Warranties
  • Service provider cap and limitations
